Microsoft announced that their new Elite bundle will include the 2007 and 2008 Games of the year, Halo 3 and Fable II. It will include all the goodies you got in the original Elite package, like the 120Gb Hard Drive, HD cables and wired headset.
This Game of the Year bundle will be limited edition, so if you don’t have an Xbox 360 already – now is your chance! It will retail for the Elite’s regular price of $399 (no solid news yet of a release outside of America) and will include the new Jasper chipset motherboard that the Red Resident Evil 5 Elite bundle had.
The Jasper chipset has smaller memory chips, so it is less prone to frying itself and RRoD’ing you. There is also a more efficient cooling system to make sure everything is running smoothly.
What does this say about the rumors of Microsoft halting production of the Elites? The general consensus is that the Elites will no longer be purchased by themselves, but will be part and package of special edition bundles.
Good? Bad?
Good news for people looking to get an Elite.
Bad news for people (like me) who already have one without the swanky new chipset.
